The entertainment industry has been on a roll, especially during the lockdown, when people were stuck at home. Filmmaker Prakash Jha made his debut in the web series world with ‘Ashram’, which garnered a lot of love from the audience and became a popular web series. One of the standout aspects of the series was Bobby Deol’s portrayal of Baba Nirala, a character that was quite different from his usual roles. The series has had three seasons so far, all of which have been superhits.
Each character in the series has a story to tell and a purpose to fulfill. In the previous season, it was revealed that Baba Nirala had taken advantage of Parminder, also known as ‘Pammi’, a wrestler. Pammi tries to expose Baba’s truth, but he manages to escape. The second part of the third season has been released, and it shows the battle between Pammi and Baba. But how does it all end?
In the previous part, Pammi is sent to jail, accused of making false accusations against Baba Nirala and killing her brother and father. She’s mistreated in jail, and her mother dies due to shock. Pammi is broken, but Baba Nirala is still roaming free. He visits Pammi in jail, and she apologizes, melting Baba’s heart. Baba offers to get Pammi out of jail, which angers Bhopa Swami, who warns him against it.
Pammi goes to Baba’s ashram, where she shows a changed form in front of her sister-in-law, Babita. She tries to convince Babita, but Pammi is just pretending to be devoted to Baba. Meanwhile, she implicates Bhopa Swami in her trap, getting him to come closer to her. This makes Nirala Baba angry, and he punishes Bhopa Swami. Bhopa gets angry and becomes revengeful. Will Bhopa be able to reveal the truth about Nirala Baba with Pammi’s help? You’ll have to watch the series to find out.
When the series first started, its story and presentation were impressive. Prakash Jha created grand sets and a huge following for the series. The way he presented the concept of hypocrisy and deceit in the name of faith was praiseworthy. However, as the series progressed, its pace slowed down, and the screenplay became slow. People started feeling tired after watching a few episodes. The difference of about three years between the first and second part of the third season lost its connect with the audience.
This season starts with a long recap, helping you recall the previous story. However, the story doesn’t offer much in this part. The trailer had already given away what was going to happen this season. There are only five episodes, each around 30-45 minutes long. But sometimes, you feel like it’s dragging on. Many scenes are too long, making you wonder when it will end. However, the story of ‘Ashram’ concludes on a satisfying note, which might just make your mind happy.
Bobby Deol has once again left his mark on the series. He plays the character of Baba Nirala with full devotion and loyalty. Whenever he appears on screen, he doesn’t disappoint. The supporting actors have also done a great job. Aditi Pohankar, in the role of ‘Pammi’, has done an amazing job. She brings to life a girl burning in the fire of revenge, and her acting is superb. Chandan Roy, in the role of Bhopa Swami, has emerged as a surprise in the series. He plays his role so well that you’ll praise his talent. Other actors like Tridha Chaudhary, Darshan Kumar, and Sachin Shroff have also performed well.
If you’re a fan of the series, you might want to check out this season. It’s a conclusion to the story, and it’s worth watching. Overall, ‘Ashram’ has been a great series, and its finale does justice to the story. With its engaging storyline and impressive performances, it’s a must-watch for fans of the series.
