Boavista Futebol Clube’s Sports Society Anonymous (SAD) has pushed back against accusations from the club’s board, asserting that the organization’s current operational difficulties, including player registration issues, were “predictable” and had been repeatedly warned about.
The SAD’s defense comes after the club’s board blamed it for the withdrawal of a team from the AF Porto 1st Division. The club stated it could not register the necessary players for competition.
The SAD emphasized it had “always warned” about “the risks inherent in creating a new team.” These warnings were made within a context where “impediments” to registering new athletes already existed.
It lamented that its proposals for uniting the efforts of all Boavista supporters to back “our team,” which competes in the AF Porto Liga Pro, were not accepted. The SAD suggested the club’s current state would be “much different for the better” had its earlier recommendations been taken.
Despite the public dispute, the SAD reaffirmed its “total availability to preserve unity and cohesion” within the Boavista universe. It stated a firm commitment to resolving all pending situations affecting the club.
The SAD specified that overcoming player registration impediments remains an “absolute priority.” It continues to work “with diligence and institutional sense” toward resolving these challenges.
The society’s statement also suggested that dividing Boavista supporters during difficult times could only lead to the outcome the club’s board now faces. It clarified that the SAD never obstructed decisions by the club’s board, even when it did not share their objectives.
