Boavista Fans Create Panteras Negras FC, Alternative Amid Board Dispute

Sometimes, fans just get fed up. They watch their beloved club, see decisions made, and feel a growing disconnect. This happened recently with a group of Boavista Futebol Clube supporters. They decided enough was enough. On Monday, they started their own new club, called Panteras Negras Footballers Club.

This isn’t just a friendly spin-off. It’s a bold move born from real frustration. The club’s leadership, headed by Rui Garrido Pereira, has left many fans feeling unheard. People disagree with how the club is being run, especially when it comes to the senior football team’s plans. There are many other points of argument too. This new club is a direct challenge, a statement of defiance from the stands.

The name "Panteras Negras Footballers Club" holds special meaning. "Panteras Negras" refers to the Boavista supporters’ group, a passionate force. "Footballers Club" pays homage to Boavista FC’s original name. It’s a nod to history, a way of saying they’re returning to the roots. The group has already officially registered the association and joined the Porto Football Association (AF Porto).

This situation brings to mind another famous case. Years ago, Salgueiros fans started Salgueiros 08. That project eventually merged back with the original club, with everyone involved pulling in the same direction. Here, it’s different. The new Panteras Negras FC doesn’t have the blessing of Boavista’s current board. This is a clear split, not a unified effort.

The new club plans to play its games in the Ramalde area. Talks are already underway to secure a field there. Looking ahead, the club will officially present itself and its leaders this Friday. The ceremony will take place right next to Boavista’s home, the Estádio do Bessa. It’s a powerful spot for a new beginning.

Here’s where it gets truly interesting. Boavista’s main professional team, known as the SAD team, plays in Liga Pro. This is the top tier of the AF Porto system. The Boavista club itself also fields another senior team, likely in a lower tier. The newly formed Panteras Negras Footballers Club will start way down in the 4th tier of the AF Porto competition. This means, by chance, the fan-created club might one day face off against Boavista’s other senior team. Talk about a local derby with an extra layer of meaning.
