Following Black panther, titled Wakanda Forever, is currently filming. Chadwick boseman, who was the central interpreter of T’Challa, died on August 28, 2020 as a result of cancer and will therefore not be in this sequel. Yes Marvel and Disney have long procrastinated on how to maintain its legacy, this new film by Ryan coogler will focus on the secondary characters of the Wakanda to develop a little more the mythology of the universe. T’Challa will therefore not come back in computer-generated images or through another actor.
However, Letitia Wright (Shuri) will appear well in this sequel and had been seen on film sets in the company of Danai Gurira (Okoye). But during a night shoot, Wright would have suffered “Minor injuries” due to a platform mobilized for a stunt, which necessitated his emergency hospitalization. Marvel however declared to Variety that the state of the actress was reassuring:
“Letitia Wright suffered minor injuries today while filming a stunt for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. She is currently receiving treatment at a local hospital and should be released soon. ”
Marvel did not, it seems, not communicate a possible postponement which means that filming should resume fairly quickly. Black Panther: Wakanda Forever will cover almost all of the first casting: Danai Gurira as Okoye, Lupita Nyong’o as Nakia, Martin Freeman as Everett K. Ross, Winston Duke as M’Baku and Angela Bassett as Ramonda. It was recently reported that Dominique Thorne will be making his debut as Riri Williams, aka Ironheart, in the movie before the premiere of his own Ironheart series on Disney +. The film is due out on July 8, 2022.
