‘Bitcoin Jesus’ Says Ethereum Will Drive Mass Adoption

Roger Ver recently spoke at a podcast out on ethereum (ETH). According to him, Vitalik Buterin’s project will drive mainstream adoption of crypto. Ver, who is also known as Bitcoin Jesus, was an early investor in bitcoin (BTC).

Scalability Ethereum will drive mass adoption

Roger praises the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM), an environment in which smart contracts turn, and layer-2 solutions such as Polygon (MATIC), which improve network scalability. If it were up to Ver, Bitcoin would have become what Ethereum is today. It is also for that reason that he is behind the bitcoin cash (BCH) hard fork from August 2017 Sat.

The split was the result of a dispute within the bitcoin community over scalability. Buterin, the co-founder of Ethereum, used to be deeply involved in the Bitcoin community, but also saw the limitations of the project. The community also disagreed with applying smart contracts and so Buterin saw no other way than to launch its own blockchain. Roger said the following about that:

“The Bitcoin Core developers hated Vitalik, and they basically kicked him out of the project to create Ethereum.”

The American also expressed his opinion on the problems surrounding Ledger. According to Ver, the developments are disappointing and the core idea of cryptocurrency revolves around complete control over your own funds. It is precisely this core idea that is touched with the possibility to seed phrases secured by an external party.

Charge to Roger Ver

Roger Ver was sued in January by crypto lending platform Genesis Trading for failing to meet a $20.8 million outstanding in crypto options. Ver claimed that he had sufficient funds to pay off the loans but that he is not obligated to repay the company now that it has been declared bankrupt.
