Bitcoin creator Satoshi Nakamoto said goodbye with this email

Satoshi Nakamoto, the anonymous founder of the Bitcoin (BTC) network, has long been seen as a true figurehead of the overall crypto industry. Satoshi Nakamoto invented Bitcoin in 2008 and described the idea behind it in the white paper, which was published on October 31, 2008. On January 3, 2009, the first transaction block of the Bitcoin blockchain was mined and Satoshi Nakamoto’s idea was officially brought to life.

On April 23, 2011, the Bitcoin founder wrote his last email stating that he had pulled his hands off the project.

Last email Bitcoin founder

This latest email was a response from Satoshi Nakamoto to software developer Mike Hearn. Hearn asked in his email if Satoshi Nakamoto was planning to launch the Bitcoincommunity to re-enter or whether he wanted to stay out of the limelight forever.

The Bitcoin inventor wrote, among other things, the following in his response:

“I have moved on to other things. It’s in good hands with Gavin and everyone.”

The Gavin he is talking about is Gavin Andresen, one of the software developers behind Bitcoin, along with Mike Hearn himself.

At the time, Satoshi Nakamoto could not escape some media attention. This is after the BTC price hit a high of $1 on April 13, the first time this magic mark has been reached since its near-zero value at its launch in 2009.

A few days later, on April 23, the phenomenon within the crypto world wrote one last email addressed to Gavin Andresen. The founder reminded the developer not to talk about him as a “mysterious, shadowy figure,” as the press would use such a description to view BTC from a “pirate currency angle.”

Also, in this latest email, the founder suggested making Bitcoin an open-source project to give more credit to the network’s development contributors.

Anonymity behind BTC

Since this last sign of life from the legendary creator of Bitcoin, the rumor mill is still running at full speed to this day to uncover the identity behind Satoshi Nakamoto. Despite this, Bitcoin was designed as a decentralized alternative to the traditional financial system that, with Satoshi Nakamoto’s anonymity, is separate from a central leader. It fits the strength of the network, which distinguishes itself from many other projects in the crypto landscape in terms of decentralization and independence.
