Youtuber Dhruv Rathee has publicly challenged Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan regarding his continued endorsement of pan masala brands. Rathee’s recent video sparked debate, focusing on Khan’s substantial wealth.
Khan’s net worth is reported to be approximately $1.4 billion, equating to over 12,400 crore Indian rupees. Despite this considerable fortune, Rathee questioned the actor’s decision to promote what he termed a “harmful thing.”
In his viral video, Rathee directly asked, “Is this much money not enough? If it is, then what compulsion is there that you are still promoting a harmful thing like pan masala?” He urged viewers to ensure his video reaches the prominent actor.

Shah Rukh Khan has yet to issue a direct statement addressing Rathee’s recent comments. However, an older video clip of Khan discussing product endorsements has resurfaced online, providing insight into his past views.

In the viral clip, Khan spoke about endorsing products like cigarettes and cold drinks. He called on authorities to prohibit such items if they are deemed harmful.
Khan stated, “If smoking is bad, then don’t let cigarettes be produced in our country. If you think cold drinks are bad, then don’t let them be made.” He then offered his personal defense of endorsements.
He explained that governments do not ban these products because they generate significant revenue. Khan argued that if these products are revenue generators for the state, then actors should not be prevented from earning revenue by promoting them.
Khan’s position was clear: “Don’t stop my revenue. I am an actor. I have to work and earn revenue from it. It’s very clear, if you think something is wrong, stop it. No problem, just stop making it.”
The debate highlights ongoing discussions about celebrity responsibility in product endorsements, especially for items perceived as detrimental to public health.
