Former US President Bill Clinton said Wednesday that he had tested positive for covid-19, with mild symptoms, and encouraged people to get vaccinated.
It is the latest health scare for the 76-year-old former president, who was briefly hospitalized last year and has undergone multiple operations since 2004.
"I’m fine in general and I keep busy at home. I am grateful to have been vaccinated and boosted, which has kept my case mild, and I urge everyone to do the same, especially as we head into the winter months."Clinton tweeted.
The former president (1993-2001) spent five nights in a California hospital due to a blood infection in October 2021. In 2004, at age 58, he underwent a quadruple bypass operation and six years later had stents implanted (intravascular prostheses ) in the coronary artery.
This led him to adopt a vegetarian diet and to speak publicly about how his change in food consumption helped him become healthier.
The Clintons now live in Chappaqua, New York.
