Bild Journalist Retracts Harry Kane Transfer Criticism After Hat-Trick

Sometimes, even the sharpest minds in sports journalism have to eat their words. That’s exactly what happened after Harry Kane’s latest masterclass for Bayern Munich. Following his hat-trick in a dominant 4-1 win over Hoffenheim, a veteran German reporter publicly apologized to the English striker.

Alfred Draxler, a well-known voice from the “Bild” newspaper, made his feelings clear. “Sorry, Mr. Kane, I apologize,” he stated plainly. Draxler remembered his strong criticisms from when Kane first joined Bayern in 2023. At the time, he felt the transfer was a mistake.

The deal, which saw Kane leave Tottenham for 100 million euros, seemed too much for Draxler. He worried about paying such a large sum for a 30-year-old player. Kane had also never won a major trophy, which added to the doubts. Draxler even suggested cheaper alternatives. He pointed to Niclas Füllkrug, who had scored 16 goals for Werder Bremen the season before.

However, Draxler now realizes he judged too quickly. Kane’s consistent play has won him over completely. The forward almost never misses a game due to injury. Draxler believes this isn’t just good luck; it shows Kane’s strong discipline and incredible work ethic. He even joked about Kane’s dedication.

“I don’t think Harry Kane vacations where you have to save a sun lounger in the morning,” Draxler shared. “If I ever met him, I’d get up early to put a towel on a sun lounger for him. I wouldn’t do that for any other Englishman.” It was a lighthearted way to show his newfound respect.

Kane signed a deal with Bayern Munich that runs until 2027. He has proven his value time and time again. The star striker has now netted 70 goals in the Bundesliga. He reached this impressive number in just 67 games. His performances have truly silenced the doubters.
