The work on the cricket stadium in Rajgir, Bihar is progressing rapidly, with a likelihood of the field work being completed by July this year. Recently, an update revealed that about 75 percent of the work has been finished. A new video of this stadium, which is being built at a whopping cost of around Rs 750 crore, has surfaced, showing the swift progress of the pavilion and stands. The structure is now ready, and the finishing work is expected to commence soon.
For a long time, Bihar had only one stadium capable of hosting international cricket matches – the Moin-ul-Haq Cricket Stadium. While it has hosted a few international matches in the past, it has been primarily used for domestic matches in recent years. Now, Bihar is on the verge of getting its second international stadium, the Rajgir International Cricket Stadium. According to various media reports, the total cost, from land acquisition to construction, is estimated to be around Rs 750 crore.
As Indian Tech & Infra tweeted, “a new international cricket stadium is under construction in Rajgir, Bihar.” This tweet has generated a lot of excitement among cricket enthusiasts in the region.
The Foundation Was Laid in 2018
The foundation of this ground was laid by Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on October 12, 2018. The construction work was inspired by the Sydney Cricket Ground in Australia, and 90 acres of land were acquired for the project. Initially, it was expected to be completed by 2022, but now, with the work progressing rapidly, Bihar is expected to get a new international stadium by July this year. The stadium will have a seating capacity of 45,000, allowing a large number of spectators to enjoy live cricket matches.
