Bigg Boss 18 contestant Avinash Mishra has slammed Pakistani actress Mahira Khan for her “anti-India” comments on Operation Sindhur, a military operation conducted by India on May 7. The operation targeted nine terrorist launch pads in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) following the Pahalgam attack, which claimed 26 lives.
Mahira Khan’s Controversial Statement
Mahira Khan described Operation Sindhur as “cowardly,” stating, “India, your war and hate speech have been going on for years… You attack cities in the middle of the night and call it a victory? You should be ashamed.” In response, Avinash criticized the Pakistani actress on his Instagram story, warning her not to seek work in India when tensions ease.
Avinash’s statement read, “Oh Mahira di, there’s no need to blame Pakistan. The whole world saw the evidence. Just don’t come looking for work in India when things calm down. Some celebs have become traitors to increase their reach and followers, but don’t worry, their turn will come later.”
Avinash Takes Aim at Silent Celebrities
Avinash also targeted Indian celebrities who remained silent on the India-Pakistan issue. “Where are our celebrities now? If you can’t speak for your country to protect your ‘brand’ or follower count, then don’t pretend to represent India. Silence is not okay. It’s cowardice.”
The All Indian Cine Workers Association also weighed in on May 8, releasing a statement condemning Pakistani actors Mahira Khan and Fawad Khan and demanding a complete ban on Pakistani artists in India.
