Big decision by Chinese pharmaceutical company regarding corona vaccine

According to media reports, the plant will be set up in a special pharmaceutical manufacturing zone in the Hambantota district of the southern province, Sri Lanka’s Ambassador to China Palitha Kohuna confirmed.

According to the report, the Sri Lanka State Pharmaceutical Corporation (SPC) had approached the Chinese government earlier this year to establish a vaccine plant in the area in light of growing demand for the new coronavirus vaccine in Sri Lanka. .

Palitha Kohuna, Sri Lanka’s ambassador to China, said the SPC and Synovik had finalized the deal and were working on a statement from the plant.

According to media reports, the deal will allow Colombo to start producing around 9 million doses of the new coronavirus vaccine.

It should be noted that the cyanobacteria vaccine is one of two Chinese vaccines approved by the World Health Organization on its emergency use list.
