Big announcement of the new administration of Afghanistan

KABUL: The new Afghan administration has decided to resume issuing passports and national identity cards.

According to media reports, administration spokesman Zabiullah Mujahid informed through his Twitter account that the Council of Ministers of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan in its recent meeting has directed the Interior Ministry to resume issuance of passport and tazkira or national identity card.

Local media also confirmed the news, quoting Alam Gul Haqqani, director of the passport department, as saying that about 25,000 passports would be issued every day in the first phase at a rate of about 6,000.

It may be recalled that since the Taliban came to power in Afghanistan on August 15, the issuance of passports and national identity cards was stopped where thousands of people knock on the door of the passport department in Kabul every day for traveling abroad.
