Biden ‘unlikely’ to visit Ukraine on upcoming European tour

United States President Joe Biden said on Monday that it is unlikely to visit Ukraine during a tour of Europe later this week.

Asked by the press while walking on the beach on this holiday, Biden first said "depends"and then "on this journey, improbable" to visit Ukraine.

The president, who travels to Germany on Saturday for the G7 summit and then goes to Madrid for a NATO meetingsaid that a visit to Ukraine would depend on "many things: whether or not it causes more difficulties for the Ukrainians, whether or not it distracts attention from what is happening".

Biden, who was in Poland, which borders Ukraine, in March, is among a dwindling number of Western leaders who have yet to visit kyiv to express support for the Russian invasion.

Last week, French President Emmanuel Macron joined the prime ministers of Germany and Italy on a visit to Ukraine, while Prime Minister Boris Johnson has already been twice.

But Biden said he is in close contact with his Ukrainian counterpart Volodimir Zelenskywho are you talking to "almost four times a week".
