Biden announces goal of selling 50% zero-emission cars by 2030

US President Joe Biden wants half of all cars sold in the United States by 2030 to be emission-free, that is, electric, plug-in hybrids or hydrogen, according to a document released by the White House. The three major US manufacturers, namely Ford, GM and Stellantis (which has the historic Chrysler brand as its core) affirm in a jointly published statement their “common ambition to reach 40 to 50%” of vehicles of this type by 2030 sold. annually in the United States.

Joe Biden, who this Thursday organizes an event at the White House to detail these measures, also intends to strengthen again the regulations on the fuel consumption of cars, which had been very light under the mandate of Donald Trump.
