The president of the United States, Joe Biden, announced this Thursday a new military aid package valued at 768 million euros (800 million dollars) for Ukraine, before leaving Madrid, on the sidelines of the NATO summit.
"We have provided Ukraine with nearly $7 billion in security assistance since I took office. In the coming days, we intend to announce more than $800 million more"the US president stressed in a White House statement.
Thus, it has been detailed that the funds will go to "a new advanced Western Air Defense system for Ukraine, more artillery and ammunition, counter-battery radars, additional ammunition for the HIMARS multiple launch rocket system that we have already given to Ukraine, and more HIMARS that are also coming from other countries".
In the same way, he recalled that, despite the fact that the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, tried to weaken NATO, what he had really achieved was "the opposite effect".
In this sense, it has reiterated that: "if they attack one of us, they attack us all, we will defend every inch of NATO territory".
The tenant of the White House has assured that "this summit has shown that NATO adapts to changes, and has pointed to Russia and other systemic challenges, in addition to opening the doors to two new members, Finland and Sweden".
