Biaggi fires the mechanics who stopped Adrián Fernández

The two mechanics of the Sterilgarda that during the classification of Moto3 of the Aragon GP prevented Adrián Fernández from leaving the pits, of the Tech3, have been fired by Max Biaggi, team owner. The unsportsmanlike action, picked up by the cameras, was initially sanctioned by the Dorna Commissioners Panel with two races of suspension for the operators and a fine of 2,000 euros. From the first moment, the Italian ex-pilot decided to take action on the matter, making it clear that the action of both individuals was in a personal capacity and was not obeying any type of order to prevent the Spaniard from following Sasaki’s wheel during Aragon qualifying: ” First of all we want to apologize to Team Tech3 Racing and its driver Adrián Fernández, for what happened. We believe this behavior is unacceptable, because it violates our team’s code of ethics. For this reason necessary measures will be taken to punish the guilty”, Biaggi said immediately after the incident.

And a few weeks later, the team itself announced the dismissal of the two mechanics, which Max Biaggi personally reported in a statement: “I personally followed and coordinated the process formal notice to the two members of my team, responsible for the events against the rider Adrián Fernández and Team Tech3 KTM. After officially asking the interested parties for clarifications and justifications of what happened, in compliance with the contractual requirements, we arrived to the difficult but necessary decision to end our relationship. As a team, we believe that we must completely separate our path from those guilty of unsportsmanlike behavior that goes against the rules and regulations. Such action cannot and should not go unpunished or go unnoticed. The damage to our name is immeasurable”, explains Max Biaggi.
