The trend of buying lottery tickets to get rich quick is increasing all over the world including USA. Seeing this trend, counterfeiters have started making fake coupons and lottery tickets which sell for thousands of rupees but there is no reward in the hands of the buyers. It seems.
A similar incident took place in the US state of Virginia where a woman printed fake coupons in her house and collected 32 million dollars (five and a half billion rupees) from the people.
The woman used the money to repair her home, buy cars and spend her holidays abroad.
Police arrested the woman and recovered millions of coupons, including Procter & Gamble, Coca-Cola and Ziplock brands, from her home.
According to media reports, the police had produced the woman in court, where based on the evidence, the court sentenced the woman to 12 years in prison on fraud charges.
