Betis transfers: The new surprise discard of Manuel Pellegrini

Real Betis is about to make its first outing official in this transfer market. As reported by ABC, the right-back Martín Montoya will be the first discard of the Verdiblanco team after the return of Héctor Bellerín to the team.

Manuel Pellegrini, Betis coach, has already made the decision not to include Montoya in the call for the last two preseason friendlies, against Sevilla and Real Sociedad. This makes it clear that the player is not part of the Chilean coach’s plans for the upcoming season.

Betis transfers: The new surprise discard of Manuel Pellegrini

The full-back has participated in three of the four friendlies that Betis has played this preseason, but this has not been enough to convince Pellegrini of his worth in the team. Therefore, the club is already negotiating his departure and everything indicates that his contract will be terminated, which ends in June 2024, so that Montoya can be a free agent on the market and look for a new club.

It is speculated that the player’s destination could be Aris de Salónica, where he would coincide with another exbético, Loren Morón. However, there is still no official confirmation about his future.

In addition to Montoya, there are other players who will not travel to friendlies due to injury, such as Nabil Fekir and youth squad Assane. The situation leaves some unknowns to be resolved at Betis, since the club is also trying to give up newcomer Álex Collado so as not to stop his projection.

On the other hand, Pellegrini is still waiting for the signing of a fast winger who will bring more speed to the team in attack. Adama Traoré has been a name that has sounded strong, but for the moment the operation has not been reactivated.

In general, Betis is focusing on lightening its squad to avoid an excess of players. The club has already made seven signings, and is now working on departures so that Pellegrini can have the team he wants for next season. Martín Montoya could be just the first of several players who will pack their bags before the transfer market closes.
