Bruce Nesmith, a veteran game developer who worked on The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, recently shared his thoughts on what a potential Fallout 3 remaster could look like. Speaking to VideoGamer, Nesmith expressed his hopes that a remastered version would modernize the game’s shooting mechanics.
Outdated Combat Mechanics
Nesmith pointed out that Fallout 3’s gunplay wasn’t particularly strong at the time of its release. Although it wasn’t a fast-paced shooter, the team put a lot of effort into the combat mechanics in Fallout 4. In hindsight, Nesmith believes that Fallout 3’s shooting system is now outdated.
A New Perspective
As the first Bethesda game to feature gun combat, Fallout 3’s mechanics were considered groundbreaking at the time. However, Nesmith now thinks they were not as good as he initially thought. The success of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered has been well-received by fans, with many praising its improved graphics, animations, and gameplay mechanics.
Potential for a Fallout 3 Remaster
This positive response could potentially encourage Bethesda to consider remastering Fallout 3 in the future. If that happens, Nesmith hopes that the game’s gunplay will be significantly improved to match the standards set by Fallout 4. A remastered Fallout 3 could breathe new life into the classic game, offering a more modern gaming experience for fans.
