Besiktas Clears Rafa Silva of Serious Injury After Back Pain Scare

Turkish football club Besiktas announced Wednesday that medical examinations found no underlying pathology to explain persistent back pain reported by player Rafa Silva, though he will undergo a treatment program.

The club stated in an announcement that magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans performed on Silva revealed “no pathology that could explain his back pain.” Despite this, Silva reported persistent discomfort and did not participate in Wednesday’s training session.

Besiktas’s medical team diagnosed the condition as mechanical low back pain. A specific treatment program has been communicated in writing to Silva and his representatives.

The club stressed that the recovery process will proceed based on “mutual fulfillment of contractual obligations by both parties.” Besiktas also committed to sharing updates with the public for “full transparency.”

Silva had reportedly been concerned about a more serious injury, specifically fearing a hernia. These suspicions have now been ruled out by the medical tests.

Club officials anticipate Silva will return to training and competition soon. This injury situation is separate from the player’s previously stated desire to leave Turkish football, which could happen as early as January.
