Bertran will be the first Dominican in action this Monday in the Open tournament

The main draw matches of the RD Open 2022 by Milex begin at 2:00 in the afternoon this Monday, an event that will last until next Sunday, August 21 at the Santo Domingo Tennis Club (La Bocha).

Peter Bertran will be the first of the Dominicans to make his singles debut when he faces 2015 champion and 2017 runner-up Damir Dzumhur of Bosnia at the Hyper Malt Stadium no later than 6pm.

On the same stage, the local Ángel Maleno will also be on court, who will play doubles together with the Colombian Nicolás Mejía, to face the American Evan King and the South Korean Yunseong Chung, a match scheduled for the second round.

This Monday, four of the six players who will advance to the main draw from the classification will be defined when the Argentine Román Burruchaga will face the American Nick Chappell; the Argentine Facundo Juárez against the British Blu Baker; the Colombian Nicolás Barrientos against the Peruvian Arklon Huertas, and the Peruvian Nicolás Álvarez against the American Patrick Kypson.

The six players who qualify for the main draw will add five points for the ATP ranking.

The RD Open 2022, which has the support of the Ministry of Tourism, is an ATP Challenger 125 that awards that number of points to the singles and doubles champions, distributing a purse of $159,360 among the participants.

The Dominicans Alejandro Gandini, Ángel Maleno, Daniel Baquero and Jasel Beltré could not overcome the first qualifying day this Sunday.

In the case of Gandini, he was beaten 6-3, 6-1 by Barrientos, while Maleno fell to Mejía, his doubles partner, 6-0, 6-0. On his side, Beltré lost with a score of 6-1, 6-0 against Álvarez, and Baquero could not against Chappell, who defeated him with a score of 6-2, 7-5.

The Quisqueyans do not add points for the ATP ranking, but they take 390 dollars for playing the first qualifying round of the event.
