Benfica’s Nycole Hospitalized, Rival Goalkeeper Seppi Discharged After Head Clash

The BPI League is known for fierce competition. Sometimes, it brings incredibly tough moments. This past Sunday, a startling scene unfolded on the pitch. Benfica’s forward, Nycole Raysla, and Valadares Gaia’s goalkeeper, Erin Seppi, collided head-on during their match. Both players needed immediate hospital care after the serious clash.

Nycole, the talented Brazilian attacker, left the field on a stretcher. Benfica later confirmed she had suffered a “craniocerebral trauma.” Reports indicate she remains under close observation at Hospital da Luz/Arrábida. She might stay until tomorrow. Medical staff are providing dedicated care. Nycole’s condition is stable. However, this injury means she cannot play. She will miss the Women’s Champions League game against Arsenal on Thursday.

Meanwhile, Erin Seppi, the American goalkeeper, was taken to the Centro Hospitalar de Vila Nova de Gaia/Espinho. She received several stitches for her injury. Thankfully, Erin has since been discharged and is now recuperating. Doctors will continue to monitor her carefully over the next few days as she recovers from the trauma.
