Benfica Rejects Marseille Loan Bid for Florentino, Demands Permanent Transfer

Florentino trains at Benfica Campus

The transfer market always holds a few surprises, and right now, all eyes are on Florentino. French club Marseille is hunting for a new midfielder, a player to fill the shoes of Rabiot. According to reports from ‘L’Équipe’, Florentino is high on their wish list. They’ve even put forward an offer to bring the number 61 on loan, which would include a required purchase later. However, Benfica, the club holding his contract, has a clear message: they only want a full sale for their talented U21 international.

This isn’t the first time Florentino has drawn significant interest. Benfica has already turned down bids for him from clubs in England and Saudi Arabia. There have also been inquiries from teams in Turkey and Italy, showing just how much attention he’s getting. Despite the strong interest from abroad, and Benfica’s firm stance on a sale, there’s still a chance he might leave before this transfer window closes.

Interestingly, while clubs are battling for his signature, Florentino recently found himself training with Benfica’s B team. This was a consequence of a red card he received during a match in Istanbul. Coach Lage explained the decision, saying that the midfielder “trains better with the B team than doing a pre-match training session” before a senior game. It seems even top prospects sometimes have to work their way back into the main squad’s good graces.
