The two leading candidates for the presidency of Portuguese football club Benfica, Rui Costa and João Noronha Lopes, are set to face off in a televised debate on November 6, just two days before the decisive second round of voting.
The debate will be broadcast on BTV, the club’s official channel. The final election is scheduled for November 8.
The official campaign for this final stage began on Tuesday.
Costa and Lopes advanced from the first round, which was held last Saturday. In that initial vote, Rui Costa secured 42.13% of the votes.
João Noronha Lopes received 30.26% of the votes in the first round.
Electoral regulations also mandate individual interviews for both candidates on BTV. Each candidacy will also receive dedicated airtime slots and space in the club’s newspaper.
