The Sunday futsal clash between Benfica and Rio Ave at Pavilhão Fidelidade certainly kept fans on edge. Spectators waited a long time for the net to ripple. The second matchday of the Liga Placard season promised drama. Goals, however, were shy at first.
The scoring drought finally ended at the 28-minute mark. Benfica’s Jacaré broke through, putting his team ahead. But Rio Ave wasted no time hitting back. Rúben Góis scored just a minute later, leveling the score. The tie didn’t last long, though. Benfica’s Arthur quickly restored their lead in the 30th minute. The final blow came six minutes later. A Rio Ave player, Peixinho, unfortunately, put the ball into his own net. This own goal settled the contest, ensuring Benfica’s victory.
This win keeps Benfica perfect in the 2025/26 Liga Placard season. They had already beaten Sp. Braga/AAUM in the first game. For Rio Ave, however, the start to the season has been tough. They remain without points. Rio Ave also lost their opening match against Ferreira do Zêzere. The journey ahead looks challenging for them.
