A true legend is returning to Benfica’s inner circle. Humberto Coelho, once a rock in defense and captain of the club, is the biggest surprise on Rui Costa’s new leadership team. The 75-year-old brings a wealth of experience. He was a national team coach and a vice-president at the FPF. Now, he joins President Costa, who is seeking his second term leading the club.
Beyond Coelho’s return, other key figures are stepping up. Nuno Catarino confirms his role on the Directorate. He will serve as the first vice-president, just behind Rui Costa. José Pereira da Costa will continue to lead the General Assembly Board. He has held this post since Fernando Seara stepped down during a general meeting in 2024. For the Fiscal Council, Raul Martins takes the helm. He follows in big footsteps. His father, Fernando Martins, was a former club president. That president famously hired coach Eriksson and oversaw the completion of the third tier of the old stadium.
Eduardo Stock da Cunha, currently an administrator, will head the team for the Remunerations Committee.
