Benfica opened their 2025/26 Champions League campaign with a convincing 4-2 victory over Italian side Bassano. The Portuguese club secured the win tonight at their home stadium, Luz, in a Group B fixture.
Benfica established a 2-1 lead by halftime and further extended their advantage in the second period.
Zé Miranda contributed two goals for Benfica, while Diogo Rafael and João Rodrigues each added a goal.
Bassano’s scores came from Gerard Ovejero and Andrea Scuccato. Scuccato’s goal was netted just 14 seconds before the final whistle.
Benfica’s next match in the tournament is scheduled for November 20, when they will play away against Oliveirense.
In another Group B match tonight, Oliveirense suffered a 3-2 defeat against Lice in A Coruña, Spain.
