This Saturday at 5 PM, a local fan club is opening its doors for a different kind of gathering. The Benfica House of Bairrada will host an information session. This event is organized by the Chega political party, directly at their request. The fan club’s own board shared this news through a statement posted on Facebook.
The board’s message made it clear why they agreed to host. They explained that this initiative fits their spirit of openness and public service. The Benfica House of Bairrada also offered its space to any other political parties. They said any party running for the Anadia Municipality can hold similar sessions there. The club leadership strongly believes their venue should remain a place for different ideas, open conversations, and civic involvement.

However, this decision brings up an interesting point about the main Benfica club’s rules. We need to look at the official Statutes of Benfica itself. Article 82, Point 3 of these rules has a very clear statement. It says that “Benfica Houses are expressly prohibited from engaging in party-political activities and religious proselytism.” This rule seems to stand in direct contrast to the local club’s current plans.
