Benfica Faces Bera Bera in Women’s Iberian Handball Super Cup Final

Benfica has secured its spot in the women’s Iberian Super Cup handball final. They clinched a nail-biting 25-24 victory over Spanish side Replasa Beti-Onak in Friday’s semi-final match. This win sets up an exciting championship game. The other semi-final saw another Spanish team, Bera Bera, knock out Madeira SAD with a 31-21 score.

The intense semi-final clash unfolded in Pamplona, Spain. Benfica, who are the four-time reigning Portuguese champions, had to battle hard for their one-goal lead. Their attacking force was led by Constança Sequeira and the Congolese player Alexandra Shunu. Both athletes were on fire, each netting six goals for “the Eagles.”

Madeira SAD, who earned a bronze medal in the tournament last year, will now compete for third place again. They fell to Bera Bera by a ten-goal margin in their semi-final. Bera Bera is a formidable opponent, having won both previous editions of this tournament.

Saturday’s final is set to be a historic event. It marks the first time the Iberian Super Cup championship match will not feature two Spanish teams. Benfica, known as “the Reds,” will challenge the reigning champions, Bera Bera, for the title. Meanwhile, Replasa Beti-Onak and Madeira SAD will face off to determine who takes home the bronze medal.
