Benfica Elections: Manteigas Proposes Electronic Voting for Overseas Members

João Diogo Manteigas

For many devoted fans, supporting their favorite club means being part of its future. Yet, distance can make that hard. Members living far from the club’s home base often struggle to cast their vote in important elections. João Diogo Manteigas, a candidate for the Benfica presidency, aims to fix this.

Manteigas recently shared his solution on social media. He sent a proposal from his campaign to Benfica’s General Assembly Table. His main goal is to make sure all members outside the mainland can vote. This plan would stop the old method of mailing paper ballots from the main city. Instead, it would allow these distant members to vote in person, no matter where they are located.

This idea comes at a time when modernizing the voting system is a hot topic. All candidates are talking about how to update the club’s election process. The potential for electronic voting, in particular, has become a central point of discussion. This push for change shows a desire to keep every voice connected to the club’s direction. The elections for the Benfica presidency are set for October 25.
