Presidential candidate Noronha Lopes is intensifying his campaign for Portuguese football club Benfica, directly engaging members and highlighting key personnel ahead of a crucial runoff election.
Lopes is scheduled to hold a public clarification session today at a Casa do Benfica chapter in Vizela, central to his outreach strategy.
He will be accompanied by Vítor Paneira, who Lopes has tapped to serve as technical director for football if elected. Paneira would sit on the substitutes’ bench during matches.
The decisive second round of the club’s presidential election is set for the 8th of the month.
Lopes underscored his commitment to direct member interaction, writing on his campaign’s social media: “Benfiquistas, this weekend I return to meet you. It is in the Casas that I feel close to my people and it is there that I return to talk about this new direction for our Glorious.”
“Glorious” is a common epithet for Sport Lisboa e Benfica, often referred to by fans as “the Reds.”
