The pre-season grind offers a mixed bag of results, and for one team, the search for a win continues. Ac. Viseu found themselves in familiar territory this past Sunday. They played to a 1-1 draw against Benfica B.
This friendly match happened behind closed doors. It took place at Viseu’s Estádio do Fontelo. The result means Ac. Viseu is still looking for their first victory in preparation for Portugal’s second division.
Just a day earlier, the team had faced a tough 2-0 loss. That game was against top-flight Arouca in Luso. But against Benfica B, who also play in the second division, Ac. Viseu drew first blood. Tomás Silva scored their goal. Last season, Silva played on loan for Oliveira do Hospital in the third league. Benfica B eventually found an equalizer, making the score 1-1.
This was the fourth test for Sérgio Vieira’s men. They have yet to taste victory. So far, their pre-season record includes two losses. They fell 1-0 to Lusitânia de Lourosa and 2-0 to Arouca. Their two draws, both 1-1, came against Tondela and now Benfica B.
Ac. Viseu will be back on the pitch soon. Their next games are on July 26. They face a double header that day. They will play against U. Leiria and São João de Ver. Before the second division season kicks off, they have more big tests ahead. They are scheduled to play Gil Vicente, Moreirense, and FC Porto B.
