Ben Stokes’ strike came against New Zealand and produced the highest score in the ODI for England

Ben Stokes’ storm with the bat was on display in the third game of the four-match ODI series between England and New Zealand. Stokes, who recently returned from ODI retirement, scored a century in the ODI format after six years. Stokes’ aggressive style was evident in this match and he completed his century in just 76 balls. Although he missed out on scoring a double century, the record of scoring the most runs in ODIs for England has now been registered in his name.

In this match, the New Zealand team chose to bowl first after winning the toss. Trent Boult got the team off to a great start with the ball and got the wicket of Jonny Bairstow on the first ball of the game. Bolt then dealt England the second blow with 13 points in the form of Joe Root.

Ben Stokes along with David Malan took care of England’s innings and the score reached 55 runs in the first 10 overs. After that, Stokes continued to score quick runs from one end. Stokes with Malan added 199 runs for the third wicket. Malan returned to the pavilion in this match after scoring 96 runs in 95 balls.

After David Malan returned to the pavilion, Ben Stokes got the support of captain Jos Buttler and both of them gave the New Zealand bowlers no chance of a comeback. Stokes scored an innings of 182 runs off 124 balls in this match. Furthermore, Stokes also broke Jason Roy’s record of 180 runs. In this match, the English team was restricted to 368 runs in 48.1 overs. Trent Boult took a maximum of 5 wickets for New Zealand.
