Ben Stokes is improving as captain, says England manager

The England team is going through a period of change in the ongoing series against New Zealand. Just prior to this series, Ben Stokes was named team captain in place of Joe Root. Ben Stokes is getting full support from new coach Brendam McCullum. Brendon McCullum believes England captaincy all-rounder Ben Stokes has arrived at the right time.

McCullum admitted that he initially feared whether he would be able to handle that responsibility. McCullum, 40, was appointed coach of the England Test team in the second week of May. Following that, Stokes was selected as the England captain when Joe Root stepped down as captain after five years.

Before Stokes was appointed, there was a fear of shifting the burden of responsibility onto the off-roader, especially after being out of the game for a few months. “I think Stokes is improving as a captain and going where he thinks his team is needed. He steps up and leads the team,” McCullum told SENZ radio.

McCullum continued: “The danger was probably that we both thought alike. But I think we are both working to improve the team in the areas where we are needed and making sure the team listens to everyone, which is important.” . for the team.”

Ben Stokes and McCullen’s tenure is off to a good start. England currently face New Zealand in the third and final match of the three-match series at Headingley Leeds, having won the first two matches.
