“Bellingham asked not to start”

A title that could be worth a title. Yesterday, Dortmund was left with honey on the lips of being Bundesliga champion. The German team came just one goal away from preventing Bayern from lifting their eleventh consecutive German league title. They had to play the match without their best player, Bellingham, who had knee problems that prevented him from also playing the game on the penultimate day against Augsburg. The player uploaded a post on Instagram at the beginning of the week in which he assures that he would give everything to get to this match: “I’m doing everything I can to be available.”In the end it was not like that.

The English midfielder was on the bench, but in the end he did not play a single minute. His coach, Terzic, assures that he did want to start him, but it was the player himself who told him no: “Bellingham looked pretty good on Friday, but he approached me yesterday, hours before the game, and privately told me that he was not 100% there to help the team and that it would be better if someone else played in his place. He has worked very hard in the last few days to be on the field. But he didn’t feel good in the pre-match warm-up either.”the technician assured.

The coach had in mind to give him minutes during the match, but he explains the reason why the Englishman did not end up playing a single minute: “I wanted to give Bellingham a few minutes, but then the game went uphill and we wanted to make a very offensive change to try to come back, so in the end Bellingham didn’t play. It was important that Jude was with us, and everyone saw how much playing today would have meant to him. (He ended up crying when he didn’t win the league title.)

The Dortmund coach wanted to give his player enough recognition, saying that without him they could not have fought to win the title: “Bellingham one of the main reasons we had a chance to win the championship. He is a winner, he will win many more trophies in his career, I am absolutely sure of that.”.

Bellingham can put an end to his story with Dortmund with a sad ending. He was unable to play the last two games due to injury and they ended up losing the league title in front of their fans by a single goal. The English ended up disconsolate. The last time he wore the yellow jersey was on May 13, against Gladbach, in which he scored a goal. Now, Madrid awaits you.
