Belenenses coach Tiago Zorro expressed satisfaction with his team’s performance despite a late goal from Estoril that led to their elimination from the Portuguese Cup.
Zorro stated he was “happy with what the players did,” adding, “Today a giant fell here,” after the defeat. He highlighted what he called a “great performance” by his squad.
The coach lamented the timing of Estoril’s decisive goal, which occurred in stoppage time. This goal sealed Belenenses’ exit from the Taça de Portugal.
Zorro acknowledged his team played “a good game” adhering to their identity “to always play to win.” He felt they “managed to challenge throughout the game.”
He noted opportunities, including a chance to score a second goal that would have made the score 2-1. Belenenses then “dropped our lines more and had more difficulties,” he said.
The coach particularly regretted conceding from an opponent’s transition, stating, “it shouldn’t have happened.” Despite the tactical errors and the final score, his overall assessment remained positive about the team’s effort.
