Belarusian president hints at integration with Russia

“When we talk about integration, we must clearly understand that it means integration without losing state and sovereignty,” the Belarusian leader told journalists and public figures.

“We have never opposed the closest alliance, but now we have to integrate with Russia in the form of a united state without losing our sovereignty,” Lukashenko said.

“Some people think that the integration of Belarus with Russia will be part of Russia, but it is not. I want to make it clear that we are an independent and sovereign state,” he said.

It should be noted that in January this year, the President of Belarus had said that the monetary union is an important step for both countries to complete integration with Russia.

Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko said in an interview with a Russian television channel that the two countries had not discussed the common monetary union in detail, but had agreed with the Russian president from the beginning. Agree on a currency between the countries.
