The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has honored Sachin Tendulkar by naming a boardroom at its Mumbai headquarters after him. The room, dubbed ‘SRT 100’, is a tribute to Tendulkar’s remarkable contributions to Indian cricket. Tendulkar himself unveiled the room, expressing gratitude to BCCI Chairman Roger Binny, Secretary Deojiit Saikia, and Vice-President Rajeev Shukla.
A Legendary Career Takes Shape
Tendulkar revealed that India’s 1983 World Cup win inspired him to become a cricketer. He was particularly moved to see the World Cup trophy up close for the first time. Tendulkar recalled his first international tour to Pakistan in 1989, marking the beginning of his illustrious career.
The ‘SRT 100’ name is a nod to Tendulkar’s full name, Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar, and his achievement of scoring 100 international centuries – 51 in Tests and 49 in ODIs.
Tendulkar’s emotional response to the honor reflects his deep connection to the sport and the BCCI. The renaming of the boardroom is a fitting tribute to one of cricket’s all-time greats.
