BCCI Awards: Cricket is the biggest sport in India. Players work hard for years only then they can play for their country in cricket. BCCI honors players who play brilliant cricket for the country. Whether the player has performed well in T20 International, ODI or Test cricket. BCCI will honor the players in this series again this year. Meanwhile, former India all-rounder and head coach Ravi Shastri will be honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) here on Tuesday.

India's star batsman will receive the award

India's young batsman will receive the award for his outstanding performances in 2023. This player is none other than opening batsman Shubman Gill. Gill will be awarded the Best Cricketer Award for his performance in 2023. During these 12 months, he became the fastest player to score two thousand runs in ODIs and also scored five centuries in ODIs.

The BCCI official said that Shastri has been selected for the Lifetime Achievement Award while Gill will receive the best cricketer of the year award. BCCI Awards were organized for the first time in 2019. After this, the BCCI Awards will be held for the second time. Players from both the Indian and England teams are expected to be present at the event before the first Test begins here on Thursday.

How was Shastri's career?

Shastri represented India in 80 Tests and 150 ODIs. After his retirement he made a name for himself as a commentator. Shastri has coached Team India twice. He joined the national team as team director from 2014 to 2016 and then took up the role of head coach under Virat Kohli from 2017 to the 2021 T20 World Cup. During his tenure as coach, India won two consecutive Test series in Australia. However, the team failed to win any ICC tournament. With Shastri as coach, India reached the final of the World Test Championship but lost to New Zealand. India also reached the semi-finals of the ODI World Cup in 2019.
