BCCI Asian Cup Review: India Team performance in Asian Cup was reviewed, this weakness came to light

In addition to choosing the team for the T20 World Cup starting next month, BCCI officials and selectors also reviewed the performance of Team India in the 2022 Asia Cup. In this review, concerns were raised about the performance of the Indian batsmen among 7 and 15 overs. This information has come out citing a BCCI official.

A senior BCCI official said: “Yes, the performance of the Asian Cup was discussed. Obviously the focus was on solutions rather than problems. It was discussed which areas need improvement during the T20 World Cup. Intermediate overs was a problem, especially in overs 7 to 15 where we didn’t do well. The team’s expert group is aware of this and we have some world class players who can change their game according to the needs of the team. .

If we look at the performance of the Indian batsmen between 7th and 15th, in the first match against Pakistan, the Indian players scored only 59 runs in nine overs and lost three wickets. Against Hong Kong, only 62 runs were scored in these overs, while in the Super-4 match against Pakistan, 62 runs were scored in these overs while India lost a wicket in the meantime. India’s best performance in these nine overs was against Sri Lanka where 78 runs came.
