A new documentary about the legendary rocker Ozzy Osbourne, set to air in the UK, has been suddenly pulled from the BBC schedule. The film, titled “Ozzy Osbourne: Coming Home,” was originally planned for Monday, August 18th, on BBC One. This news comes just weeks after the Black Sabbath frontman passed away on July 22nd at the age of 76.
A BBC spokesperson confirmed the change to Us Weekly. They stated that the film’s broadcast date has shifted. New details about when it will air will be announced sometime in the future.
A Final Look at a Rock Icon
The documentary promised an intimate glimpse into Ozzy’s final years. In an announcement from early August, the BBC described it as a “poignant and inspiring account” of this last chapter. The film was made with special access to the entire Osbourne family. This included Ozzy’s wife, Sharon, his son, Jack, and his daughter, Kelly.
The project first began in 2022. The idea was a new docuseries that would follow Ozzy and Sharon, 72, as they moved back to the United Kingdom. They had lived in Los Angeles for decades. This new show was meant to be a spiritual follow-up to MTV’s hit family reality show, “The Osbournes.” That popular series aired from 2002 to 2005.
The film traces the couple’s return to their home country. It also covers Ozzy’s battle with Parkinson’s disease. Viewers would also see his preparations for Black Sabbath’s very last concert. This final show happened just two weeks before he died.
Producers Reflect on Ozzy’s Legacy
Executive producers Ben Wicks and Colin Barr shared their thoughts in an early August statement. They called it an “incredible privilege” to spend Ozzy’s last few years with him and his family. They said Ozzy really wanted to go back to the UK. He also wanted to perform on stage one more time. The film, they explained, is a moving story about how he made that dream come true.
The producers added that millions of people worldwide loved Ozzy. This was not just for his music. It was also for his playful spirit and honesty. They saw plenty of this during his final years. But one thing stood out even more to them. It was Ozzy’s deep love for his amazing family. They were always there for him.
Ozzy’s family announced his passing in a statement to Us on July 22nd. “With more sadness than words can express, we are tasked with informing that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne passed away this morning,” the family shared. They noted he was with his family, surrounded by love. The family asked for privacy during this difficult time.
Ozzy was laid to rest after a funeral in his hometown of Birmingham on July 30th.
