Bayern Munich players celebrated their Bundesliga title win with a trip to Ibiza, despite initial plans being scrapped last week.
The group, including Harry Kane, Manuel Neuer, Thomas Muller, and Serge Gnabry, flew to the Spanish island on Sunday morning in a private jet.
According to Bild, they partied in local bars until the early hours of Monday.
A delayed celebration
The players had initially planned to celebrate their title win last week after Bayer Leverkusen lost to Freiburg.
However, club officials, including honorary president Uli Hoeness, intervened and canceled the trip.
The Bild newspaper reported that the players were determined to celebrate, and the trip was rescheduled for this weekend.
Criticism from the German football community
Not everyone in Germany was happy about the Bayern players’ trip.
Mainz 05 director Christian Heidel called the action “questionable,” saying it would lead to unwanted attention before their next game against Hoffenheim.
The Bayern players will face Hoffenheim in their final match of the season.
Hoffenheim needs at least a draw to stay in the top flight, making the match crucial for both teams.
