Bayaguana will host the second stage of the national championship

The best sprinters in the country, including the double silver medalist in Tokyo 2020 Marileidy Paulino, will jump onto the Luguelín Santos track to compete in the second stage of the 2022 National Athletics Championship.

The final stage of the event organized by the Dominican Federation of Athletics Associations (FADD) will be held on Friday and Saturday this week at the Isaac Ogando complex in Bayaguana, municipality of Monte Plata.

Paulino is called to be the main attraction of the event that will have the presence of other Tokyo medalists such as Alexander Ogando, Lidio Féliz and Anabel Medina.

Gerardo Suero Correa, president of the Athletics Federation, specified that the athletes will try to improve their positions in the national ranking, in order to try to qualify for the World Championship that will be held in Oregon, United States, from July 15 to 24.

He argued that this stage, like the first held last weekend at the Juan Pablo Duarte Olympic Center, will be carried out with the funds provided by the Government to the national federations, through the Ministry of Sports. He also valued the support of the State Economic Kitchens, an entity that will provide food to the athletes.

“Bayaguana is anxious to see the best exponents of athletics run in its complex in speed events and between Friday and Saturday they will be able to enjoy this delicacy,” Suero Correa reported.

He specified that they will compete in the 100-meter flat, 100-meter hurdles for women and 110-meter hurdles for men.
