Bautista ends his test with the MotoGP: “My future is SBK”

alvaro bautista has completed its second test day this Wednesday with the Ducati Desmosedici MotoGP. If the first day was dedicated to recovering feelings about the prototype of Borgo Panigale, which had not been climbed since 2018 in Valencia, the second session was used, according to his team, “to ride continuously, dedicating himself to the set-up and also testing different tire solutions”. He completed 49 laps of the circuit Misano, with the best time of 1:32.590 registered in the seventh lap of the fourth race with soft tires and 49° track temperature.

The time is anecdotal, but to put it in context, with that lap he would have qualified tenth on the grid in the GP of San Marino e della Riviera di Rimini 2022. Pole position on that occasion went to the Jack Miller’s Ducatiwhich stopped the clock at 1:31.899. (0.691 faster than Spanish). “Time? It’s not important either because I never pushed for the time trial: there was no reason to take risks”, confirms the Spanish pilot, who then assessed his feelings after the two days of testing: “It has been a good test. I really enjoyed getting back on the Ducati Desmosedici GP and I am satisfied with the work we have done. In addition, between the first and the second day, the sensations also improved thanks to the team, since Ducati put me in a position to fix the bike with modifications that helped me feel even more comfortable. We also worked to gain confidence with different tire solutions and the results were tangible.”

And with the possibility of wild card in MotoGP in the air, the man from Talavera stands out and focuses on the immediate: “The future? The future is in Donington and Imola. We have two very close rounds and after this good experience I only have to think about the WorldSBK championship”. And proof of this is that after completing the test with the Desmosedici, Bautista spent the afternoon shooting with his usual mount, the Panigale V4R the motorcycle with which he dominates the World Superbike firmly and with which he will run in Donington (UK) the weekend of June 29 to July 2.
