Bathco Torrelavega Secures Spanish Cup Final Berth with Thrilling 31-26 Win Over Fraikin Granollers

The Bathco Torrelavega team has emerged victorious in the Fraikin Granollers match, winning 31-26. This significant win has secured their spot in the Spanish Cup Final of Handball. Their opponent in the final will be determined by the outcome of the second semifinal match between Barça and Bidasoa Irún.

The game began with both teams cautiously feeling each other out, making mistakes and struggling to find their rhythm. The score was barely altered in the first five minutes, with a tied score of 1-1. However, Torrelavega began to gain momentum, despite facing a formidable opponent in Roberto Rodríguez Imperial, who thwarted their attempts to take the lead.

As the game progressed, the intensity picked up, and the goals started to flow. The score was tied at 7-7 after 15 minutes, but a strong counterattack led by Andrés Moyano and Antonio García allowed Granollers to take the lead, 8-11. In response, Torrelavega’s coach, Jacobo Cuétara, called a timeout, and his team rallied behind the success of Javi Muñoz’s immaculate seven-meter shot and the inspiration of Marko Jurckovic and Isidoro Martínez, knotting the score at 12-12.

Torrelavega continued to build on their momentum, capitalizing on two two-minute expulsions of Tarcisio Freitas. They managed to close the first half with a 16-14 lead, demonstrating greater defensive solidity and fluency in attack.

A spectacular performance

The second half saw a standout performance from Nicolai Colunga, who proved unstoppable for Bathco Torrelavega. Fraikin Granollers struggled to contain him in open field plays and one-on-one situations, allowing Torrelavega to widen the gap to 25-20. Despite a valiant effort from Pau Panitti and Pablo Guijarro, who attempted to spark a comeback with several robberies and goals, Torrelavega remained in control. The team ultimately sealed their victory with goals from Jurkovic and Carlos Gómez, securing a 31-26 win.
