Baskonia like it against Girona

The calendar is devastating for those who have continental appointments. After stumbling in Barcelona in the Euroleague, Cazoo Baskonia barely had time to prepare for the game against Girona, where they have Hanzlik on loan. Aíto returned to Vitoria, where one of his coaches from the last century lives (Xabier Añua) and Marc Gasol raised a lot of curiosity in the Basque capital. He also warmly received Pato Garino, which left a very good taste in the mouth in Vitoria. That and a franchise of Argentine empanadas. Colom returned to Buesa, a good reinforcement in his day.

Steven Enoch and Daulton Hommes are already recovered of their injuries but it is noticeable that they still lack a competitive rhythm, the second least, because they did very good numbers. But tonight he will sleep with an ice pack on his left knee. Sedekerskis is still touched but was on the list due to quotas and the discarded was Vanja Marinkovic. Nor did Matt Costello have minutes, who was given a rest by Peñarroya after a long jog. When you start with 20-3 and the star is one of the less transcendental players like Kurucs or someone fresh out of injury like Hommes, everything is pretty much explained. The game was resolved at the end of the first quarter (27-12). The people from Vitoria had gotten 9 assists in the first installment and the valuation of the two teams was 38 to 8.

Hommes was the one who produced the most offensively, with 10 points in 7 minutes. Peñarroya’s men struck down mercilessly against a lesser rival (39-15, min. 15). He gave the feeling that, with 55-23, things were already decided. The players lined up the locker room with great differences. The Catalan project is commendable but what it transmits is that it has leaks and is less at this point in the film. Questioning García Reneses is ridiculous, but it is obvious that they are going to suffer. The best of the Catalans was Fjellerup, the Argentine from Tres Arroyos from Palma.

Players like Dani Díez or Arturs Kurucs really prevailed over their rivals, both in defense and attack. Peñarroya’s men dominated the playing time and the fans had a relaxed afternoon at the Buesa (72-48, min. 31). Although there was a threat of reaction in the Girona team (0-14 partial), everything was in borage water. Winning by almost 30 points in the Vitoria pavilion, with this pace of competition, is still a peaceful Sunday afternoon. Baskonia adds up and Girona returns home with a good grunt.

The Basques equaled their best mark for three-pointers made in the Endesa League, of 19 with eight players scoring from beyond the 6.75 line. Daulton Hommes was the most outstanding with 21 points and four without failure, although five players exceeded ten points scored. Marc Gasol was the best of the Catalans with 24 PIR credits, considering that a large part of his numbers were achieved in the second half, with the game seen to be judged. Makeup after all, to make him look. Aíto García Reneses later complained, at a press conference, of “lack of energy” in the first minutes.
