With three months to go before the start of the Lidom 2023-24 tournament, Samuel Basallo, Junior Caminero and Thayron Liranzo will be joined by a series of talented players in the Lidom Rookie Draw to be held in September.

We know that Junior Caminero, prospect number 14 in MLB (.324-16-52 between Class A and Double A), in addition to having participated in the Future Stars game, will be selected first by the Leones del Escogido, the group that has the first ticket in the lottery.

Samuel Basallo, receiver of only 18 years, belongs to Baltimore, prospect 97 of MLB, will be one of the first named in the draw. Ranked in Class A Low, like most early-round picks (.294-12-58), he’s fourth in homers and RBIs; sixth in batting in the Carolina League (CAR). Another catcher, Thayron Liranzo, LAD, 20 years old (.247-14-37), second in home runs in the California League (CAL), will be acquired in the first round.

Outfielder Héctor Rodríguez, 19, the 24th prospect out of Cincinnati, is quite the mechanical city and a safe first-round pick. His records (.300-14-44, 11 steals) lead him in SLG (.559) and OPS (.910); second in home runs, third in batting, fourth in RBIs in the Florida State League (FSL). Miguel Bleis, SS, MLB’s 86th prospect, out of Boston (.230-1-16), doesn’t have fancy stats, but his range and being a native of San Pedro could make him the No. 3 pick by the All-Stars.

Catching is the least prolific position for RD, however this year they will be on the list, apart from Basallo and Liranzo, Onil Pérez, SF (.320-2-31); the Dominican York Cristian Cerda, Ari (.251-5-32); Christopher Familia, NYY (.321-12-36 in both Class A’s); Agustín Ramírez, NYY (.282-9-45, including .407-2-10 in Class A Advanced).

Being a pitcher is the only thing that would prevent Francomacorisan Jonh Henríquez from being a first-round player. The 23-year-old Phillies right-hander (11-1 3.55) is along with Nick Ávila the pitcher with the most wins in all of the Minor Leagues in 2023. Jorge Bautista, ATL (6-4 3.11), CAR wins leader and Yorlin Calderón, NYY (4-2 3.12) accompany Henríquez with excellent records.

Prospects are always well regarded and occupy important positions in the draw. The list includes IF Carlos Jorge, Cincinnati’s No. 12 (.285-7-30); Rayne Doncon, third baseman, 13th-ranked LAD (.226-12-45), fourth in CAL home runs; Denzer Guzman, LAA No. 4 (.246-2-33); Yeison Morrobel, OF, ranked 12th out of Texas (.273-1-13).

We are three months away from starting the Lidom 2023-24 tournament, a reason to follow the players with the loudest names and great records that will be selected in the Lidom Rookie Draw in September.
