Fred McGriff was unanimously elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame as part of the Players of the Contemporary Era ballot. Nevertheless, Barry Bonds and Roger Clemens they are far from reaching Cooperstown.

In order to enter the hall of legends, players had to receive 12 out of 16 votes from the Contemporary Era Committee. In the case of Bonds and Clemensalong with Albert Belle and Rafael Palmeiro, received fewer than four votes each.

The rest of the players not chosen to enter the Hall of Fame received half or fewer votes, but more than Bonds, Clemens, Belle and Palmeiro. Don Mattingly appeared on eight ballots, Curt Schilling on seven, and Dale Murphy on six.

The rest of the Class of 2023 will be announced on January 24. at 6:00 p.m. Eastern Time, when the Baseball Writers’ Association of America takes the ballot. The induction ceremony will take place on July 23 during Induction Weekend.

The Committee in charge of voting the ballot for the Contemporary Era was made up of the Hall of Famers greg madduxJack Morris ryne sandberg, Lee Smith, Frank Thomas and Alan Trammell; executives Paul Beeston, Theo EpsteinDerrick Hall, Art Moreno, kim ng, Dave St. Peter and Ken Williams; and media veterans Seve Hirdt, LaVelle Neal and Susan Sluser.
