Barcelona transfers: Xavi Hernández BOMBA discarded

Amidst the rumors that have flooded the sports headlines in recent weeks, the future of Atlético de Madrid’s young star Joao Félix appears to have taken an unexpected turn in his run at FC Barcelona. The top management and coaches of the culé club are not contemplating the possibility of signing the talented Portuguese striker, either on loan or outright, to replace the imminent departure of Ousmane Dembélé.

The news published by SER Catalunya chain, surprised many, since Joao Félix had publicly expressed his desire to be based in the Blaugrana shirt, which led to speculation and expectations regarding his possible incorporation into the Catalan team. However, it seems that circumstances have not worked in his favor, and his desire to join the club must, at least temporarily, be put on hold.

FC Barcelona’s decision could be motivated by several factors. Among these, the need to maintain the financial stability of the club stands out in a context in which football has been affected by the pandemic and declining revenues. Furthermore, Dembélé’s departure, although imminent, represents an important gap in the culé attack, and the board and coaching staff could evaluate other alternatives that Xavi likes more to strengthen that position.

They are looking for a way out, but as long as there is a good offer

Atlético de Madrid’s position is to keep Joao Félix this season, even if they wouldn’t turn a deaf ear if an interesting offer arrived for him as well, since he is a player who doesn’t combine very well with the schemes of Diego Simeone. He spent the last six months of last season at Chelsea, a loan deal that went quite badly, which drove his market price down significantly. It is currently well below the 100 million that were asking for mattresses, so they would try to keep it, in order to recover the best version and increase its value.
